We move on to the semi-finals next. More on that later. The Rumble is FAR from over! Let’s recap what’s happened so far this week – 3 winners, 16 bands in total that rock the hell out of TT The Bear’s. Check the links below to see what it was like. Tonight kicks off the first of 6 nights of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Rumble! Have you heard about this? As simply as I can put it – it’s a week-long local music fest disguised as a contest that will get you interested, engaged and screaming your lungs out for some of the finest bands that rock the city of Boston. Several bands have played live here on WMFO and we couldn’t be happier for their chance to rock the Rumble. Check out excellent previews in the Big Media here, here and here.
We’re not going to delve into a lot of detail, because it’s starting in a few short hours! Here’s a GREAT excuse to wake up tomorrow exhausted, voiceless and exhilarated…and then do it again on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It happens at TT the Bear’s. Go early for the reception (starts at 8pm) and make a full evening of it. Every Rumble night you’ll see bands with their A game. Below is a quick and dirty overview and hopefully the push you need to get out the door.
April 1st may have passed and but there are always fools afoot. Here are some local music recommendations for those who want to get in April’s foolish spirit.
1. Mod Gun
Last year, Mod Gun released their album “Fools”. Gritty, unique punk rock with lyrics you actually want to listen to. This band has everything going for it. Download their releases from Bandcamp. While you’re there, check out their song Clover – perfect for your spring rock collection. Catch them live at O’Brien’s in Allston on April 17 or May 24th.
Wednesday night Alen of Dale will play live in Studio Dee on WMFO’s On The Town with Mikey Dee. Join us for a night of fun Americana/rock. The band has a new CD available for download on bandcamp. We always have a chat with the band post-performance, so stick around after they’re done playing. You never know what will be discussed on On The Town. Come check it out on Wednesdays from nine to midnight.
I had literally 15 minutes to look, so here’s what I got
- the logo isn’t clickable. Usually logos are a passageway back to the homepage.
- what’s going on the Audio page? given that it’s a radio station, and you can “listen now” in the listen now area, i don’t know what else will be offered under audio, but that was the first button I clicked cuz I wanted to know.
- the DJ portal idea rocks. can’t wait to see that
- the archive and playlist is totally awesome. I’m so impressed with that. Not impressed with my typing tho.
go team go! thanks for all the work!
