LISTENER INFOWMFO broadcasts in a "Free-format" for approximately twenty hours a day, 365 days a year, barring national holidays when we run on a reduced staff. We're the radio station for Tufts University out of Medford, MA. We can be found on your FM dial, on 91.5 and we broadcast at 125 watts. We boast a diverse program, and a staff that consists of both community members and students, all in our neverending efforts to provide you with interesting and helpful non-commercial radio! WMFO serves a reliable live MP3 stream to WinAmp/iTunes/XMMS users, and a live MP3 stream to Windows Media Player users at 64Kbps data rate / 22.05kHz audio sample rate. For comparison's sake, digital CD quality sound is approximately 192Kbps data rate at a 44.10kHz audio sample rate. The difference is noticeable, but world-wide streaming audio a notch below local FM stereo is not bad! Also find our listing on ShoutCAST, a service providing access to thousands of free Internet radio streams. ShoutCAST is run by NullSoft, who makes the popular WinAmp PC audio playing platform.
